COMPLETE DENTURES

7. BEFORE STARTING THE DENTURE
Your First Chart

When you get your first patient (regardless of the department you are going to) you probably will be overwhelmed by the paperwork. Doing the dentistry is another problem. Speak to a faculty member of the first department you are going to. Speak to any faculty member. If you are uncomfortable speaking to faculty, speak to a senior.

It is a good idea to call the patient to find out when they are available. Then you can make a chair reservation that coincides with the patient availability. You also can suggest the patient make an appointment when you have your preference days. Have your appointment book right by the phone.

If the patient is completely edentulous make an appointment in Treatment Planning.

If you have trouble just picking up the phone to call the patient, get help immediately. That happens to a few students every year.
